Using Alphie's email, I started going through his questions as a guide. The first one, researching on the kind of activities that both groups of people involve themselves, was rather straight-forward.

The Elderly

Intellectual games : Most elderly play these kind of games as they are usually too sickly/weak/tired to be involved in physical games. Also, research has proven that playing games that involve strategy/ intellect actually minimize on risk of dementia and other brain diseases brought about by old age. ( note to self : If ever there is a need to explain in the proposal as to the usefulness of the event, here is one more thing to beef things up.)

The youth

While board games are still favourable to some, physical activities are still the mainstream of most youth. Even if the activity is not something particulary organized like soccer/rugby/basketball, it can still be some activity like "simon says" . ( seriously though ) Of course, improvised games can also work, although it should not be at the elderly's disadvantage unless team bonding games are being used and various participants need to make use of personal strengths or weaknesses to get through.

Did I mention Balderdash to be a good game?

To the second question, what events could such activites be found in?

If I am getting this right,

then events, especially for the outdoor ones, would usually be found in most sports compeitition/events. Did I also mention that a school having CCA day is quite ideal, even for intellectual games? The local town club/community centre could also have various events especially over the holidays.

I will cover the rest in the next entry

Well, just before I did this entry I was playing Universe at war : Earth assualt. Its like starcraft, but cool in a different alternative. And I thought that I should talk about it considering that I had some really wierd moments in the game. I was playing as a race of aliens called the Hierachy. And the thing about them is, they are a race soley for invasion purposes. why? All the buildings are mobile. They stand on legs, and are really huge. It is possible to invade an opponent's base ( especially if they are not hierachy), just by sending all your walkers ( buildings) there. That's because the walkers can not only be mounted with turrents/spawning pods, stepping on a building/enemy unit smaller that the walker will 1 hit K.O. them.

Anyway, I was very frustrated. The mission required me to invade another hierachy's base. No stepping-on-enemies-to-kill-them as their building were just as big as mine. And I was getting owned because no matter how many units I sent to destroy the base, no matter how many buildings I sent toward them, I got my @$ handed to me on a silver platter.

After two days of repeatedly failing and retrying, I had enough. I left the base alone, and and just expanded through out the whole map. I had walkers EVERYWHERE. And then, after taking so long playing the game, the AI decided to attack me instead. That was damn cool, because they only sent out their buildings one at a time. As the phrase goes, " IMA FIRE'IN MA LASERS!!!!"

BTW: I decided to do this to waste time. Really, I should just get a life, or find the one I conveniently lost.

Sam, can you do somemore designs for the website?
